My animation studio, Mighty Oak, partnered with Oscar-winning director Vanessa Roth to bring to life some of the most personal moments in her documentary about nine-time Grammy winner Mary J. Blige.
Using painterly textures and hand-drawn lines, we created an ethereal, powerful portrait of the transformative moments that shaped her life. Every sequence was rotoscoped, with thousands of hand-crafted frames used to tell Mary’s story.
The film premiered at Lincoln Center and is available on Prime Video.
